Grace Slick Rare In Person Appearance at her Phantasmical, Whimsically Droll Art Exhibition from 6-8 p.m. at George's Nightclub on Sunday, April 22, 2012 followed by a Musical Concert of Rockin' Heart and Soul performed by Moonalice @ 8:30pm

San Rafael CA-April 18, 2012-George's has just been notified that Grace Slick is making a rare in person Bay Area appearance this Sunday, April 22, 2012! Grace is flying up from Los Angeles to be in attendance at an exhibition of her Art between 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Grace will be available to speak with her fans and answer questions about her exhibited art.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and greet with Grace as she returns to the Bay Area where her musical career with the Jefferson Airplane and Starship all began!

Grace Slick is well known as one of the lead singers of the rock groups The Great Society, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and Starship, as well as for her work as a solo artist, for nearly three decades, from the mid-1960s to the mid-1990s. Slick was an important figure in the 1960s psychedelic rock movement, and is known for her witty lyrics and powerful contralto vocals.

Grace, a native of Chicago, was part of the Great Society from 1965 - 1966. They were a 1960s San Francisco rock band that existed between 1965 and 1966, and were closely associated with the burgeoning Bay Area acid rock scene.

Some of the members of Great Society including Darby Slick, the brother of her future husband, Jerry Slick, formed the Jefferson Airplane and recorded the songs "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love." Through the next 25 years Grace participated in several incarnations of the band including The Jefferson Starship, Starship and several solo albums with Paul Kantner.

Grace retired from Rock and Roll in 1989 and began a new career in the visual arts in the mid 90’s. Her first show was in Ft Lauderdale Fl, in 2000. Since then she has had over 100 exhibits and is represented by some of the best Galleries in the US and Europe.

Grace’s art communicates the same type of high energy of that in her music of the late ‘60s. Raw and energetic would be a good description for some of her works while detailed and warm would describe others.

The portraits of her rock contemporaries contain a certain mystique that comes from Grace’s personal relationship with these people. Her nudes are somewhat minimal pieces that suggest the Japanese sumi ink style of painting that is so difficult to master. Her animals contain all the love and good feelings that she has for all animals. The Wonderland pieces are a visual version of the song White Rabbit. The originals for this series are done on scratchboard to give them the intense detail.

This show will feature Grace Slick current and newest works and she has also been commissioned to create a poster for Moonalice.

Grace says:
"When I see a work of art that raises my own level of appreciation, it becomes propulsion that, in turn, moves me into the creative continuum. By receiving my work you complete the celebration”

The show will also feature the music of Moonalice, a band of seasoned musicians who feel that live music should be a communal experience where the listener and musicians feed and derive inspiration from each other.

Their songs try to speak to everyone, mixing a variety of genres with extended musical improvisations that evoke a sense of adventure and exploration.

The band currently is:
- John Molo: Drums, Vocals (Bruce Hornsby & The Range, John Fogerty, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Other Ones)
- Barry Sless: Lead Guitar, Pedal Steel Guitar, Bass (Phil Lesh & Friends, David Nelson Band, Kingfish, Cowboy Jazz)
- Roger McNamee: Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Bass Guitar (Guff, The Engineers, Random Axes, Flying Other Brothers)
- Ann McNamee: Keyboards, Vocals (Flying Other Brothers, Ann Atomic)
- Pete Sears: Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals, Bass (Sam Gopal Dream, Rod Stewart, original Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna, John Lee Hooker)
- Big Steve Parish: Road Scholar, Medicine Man, Story Teller. (Grateful Dead crew for 26 years, co-founder of Jerry Garcia Band)

Together they conjure up a heady brew of roots, rock, rhythm-and-blues, and more, peppered with spirited doses of improvisation and surprise. Moonalice turns it collective body of experience, ace musicianship, great songs, and love of adventure into live performances as distinct as they are compelling.
