Jazz at George's Feat. Deborah Winters

George's Nightclub is proud to introduce Jazz at George's! The series began Thursday January 5, 2012 and will happen every first and third Thursday of every month*! George's will present the best of local, national and international Jazz superstars and we expect the stage to be graced with surprise guest visits from renowned Bay Area Jazz players. George's invites musicians and fans of Jazz to come and participate in what promises to be an incredibly hot Thursday session!

This session will be fronted by local jazz artist, Deborah Winters. Her CD, “Lovers After All”, for the Jazzed Media label, was released November 8, 2011. Orchestra arranged by trumpeter/arranger/producer Peter Welker and String arrangement by Pete Levin. Her recording orchestra consists of Peter Welker, Pete Levin, Fred Lipsius, Mark Levine, Scott Whitfield, Dave Matthews and Andrew Speight and is receiving rave reviews. A stellar cast of Jazz luminaries from San Francisco, New York, Boston and LA helped Deborah Winters put this CD together. This lofty big-band excursion traverses the vast expanse of jazz history – from the 40s to the present – from some of the best-loved standards to rarely heard gems. In choosing the songs in this recording, Deborah and Peter sought out jazz composers whose pieces provided the ideal platform to showcase her extraordinary versatility and her trademark feeling of intimacy.

Dr. Herb Wong, who wrote the liner notes for “Lovers After All”, expressed the following: “The Passing of the grand jazz divas of the historic yesteryears (Ella, Dinah, Sarah, Carmen, Billie, Shirley, et al) has stimulated a persistent, congested long line of aspiring singers eager to fill a vacated seat and spotlight. A strong singer deserves due attention and recognition. Deborah Winters is an easy nominee for one of the coveted seats. Her sensational attributes on this CD speak with convincing eloquence and a soulful jazz-spirited attitude.”

Since the release of her CD, ("Lovers After All") November 8th, the reviews have been AMAZING to say the least. Deborah also mesmerized a sold out crowd of over 300 guests (standing room only after having to turn away almost 50 more at the door) at 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, December 3rd at her CD Release Concert.

Deborah Winters' CD entitled "Lovers After All" is doing very well and is increasing in rotation on radio stations across the country. The buzz is there and everyone wants to know "what's next?".
