The Hoo Doo Rhythm Devils – A Retrospective

Together from 1970 to 1980, The Hoodoo Rhythm Devils made 5 albums and thousands of fans throughout the country due to steady FM airplay, especially in the Bay Area. In the San Francisco Chronicle Datebook poll, “The Top 100 Bay Area’s All-Time Best Bands”, The Hoodoos were voted #53 by the critics and #46 by the readers. A compilation of recordings called “The Best of the Hoodoo Rhythm Devils” continues to sell 12 years after its release. Band leader Joe Crane wrote some of the best, least pretentious, good-time party music ever.

Unfortunately Joe died in 1980. He was beloved by everyone who met him or even just heard him, so infectious was his spirit. Now, we’d like to bring back that spirit and that music one more time for those who remember, and those who need to know what real musical fun is like.

This will be a limited run revival, and a celebration, and a chance to promote the release of the entire, recently digitized Hoodoo catalog.
